Boshack – where fun, laughter, inner peace and tranquility all came together in the real Australian outback

Joanne and Mike, we’re glad you enjoyed your time at Boshack. You experienced exactly what we want everyone to experience. :)

“Boshack – where fun, laughter, inner peace and tranquility all came together in the real (non touristy) Australian outback! Boshack provided us with so much insight and an opportunity to experience the true Australian outback that we would highly recommend this place! Derek and the team were so friendly and accommodating and really went out of their way to make sure that we got what we expected!

We booked the 3 day Australian Outback Rustic Farm Stay and this natural rustic environment provided us with the opportunity to do all sorts of activities. We did a bushwalk and listened to the local tales and aboriginal stories. We learnt how to throw a boomerang, and play the didgeridoo. We fed the local livestock including the emu and kangaroos and did some amazing star gazing. We were even given the opportunity to do some “reflection” on life – which we never seem to do and yet these natural surroundings of “inner peace and tranquility” really inspired us to reflect and share our life’s experiences.

Even the accommodation, “rustic humpies”, whilst very basic, was really comfortable, spotlessly clean and added to the ambiance of the whole trip! The food was super delicious and finally the lake, well it’s not called Lake Serene for no reason – this place has really touched our hearts and we will be going back to Boshack!!”

Slow Down, Be at Peace and Enjoy your Family

If you’re looking for a great weekend getaway, you’ve come to the right place. Take a look at the packages we have available: http://boshackoutback.com/perth-tour-packages/

Vanessa paid us a visit recently and enjoyed herself thoroughly. Thank you, Vanessa, for the wonderful testimonial.

“You will not get a more unique Australian experience anywhere other than Boshack Outback. Once you hit the unsealed road and see the imperfect, rustic signage, you immediately realize that Boshack is not a place of rules. Boshack brings you back to basics very quickly, it has everything you need yet you are embedded in untouched, real surroundings and you know there is nothing more you want. The stillness and silence bestowed upon you is great in every way.

Boshack gives you the freedom to slow down time, be in peace, enjoy your family and simplify your thought processes. Time moves at your pace at Boshack.

Our two small children were able to do as they please, feed the animals, run through the lake, pick the organic herbs and veggies to do their own ‘cooking’, go canoeing. The two days we spent created memories that you can’t get in the city or at a regular camping ground. We are so glad we came. The fresh air will give you the best night’s sleep.

Derek was fantastic as the host and tour guide. We highly recommend the outback tour which includes feeding the animals, billy tea and damper, aboriginal stories, history and eating delicacies, not to mention riding at the back of the open trailer. How many times would one do this?

Derek’s passion for the best things in life, the Australian way, are reflected in the experience of what is Boshack Outback. Thanks guys, we look forward to coming back!”

New Norcia Heritage Trail, Map and History

If you are up for a little adventure and reading, check out the New Norcia Heritage Trail, map and history we just posted on our Weather and Travel Tips page, courtesy of the Heritage Council of Western Australia. You can also view it here:

New Norcia Heritage Trail, Map and History (409 kb)

Towards the end of a particularly dry, hot summer in 1846 a small band of Benedictine monks arrived in the Victoria Plains to establish a mission to the region’s Aborigines. They could not have known that the primitive bush chapel they built would grow to become the focal point of a pastoral empire in the 1880s and a monastic and aducational centre in the 20th Century.

The New Norcia Heritage Trail traces the development of this settlement, starting at the New Norcia Museum and Art Gallery.

To get the most out of your visit to the town of New Norcia, follow the New Norcia Heritage Trail. Soak up the Spanish influenced architecture and learn about the history of this unique monastic town and its time as an Aboriginal mission. The New Norcia Heritage Trail has two parts, a two kilometre walk through the town and a 1.7 kilometre river walk. Allow three hours to explore both trails.

The first stop is the Museum and Art Gallery which displays paintings by Spanish and Italian masters, gifts from the Queen of Spain and a fascinating array of artefacts. The gift shop provides an opportunity to purchase an assortment of souvenir items, local produce, art, books and music.

The trail also takes in St Gertrude’s, the Rosendo Salvado Statue, the Cemetery, St. Ildephonsus, The Flour Mill, The Old Flour Mill, The Monastery and the Abbey Church before finishing up at the Guesthouse and old Gaol. The River Walk explores the Old Well, The Moore River, Bishop’s Well, Bishop Torres’ Beehouse, The Norcia Hotel and The Monastery Roadhouse.

The streets and buildings are an expression of history, where you can explore richly decorated interiors, furnishings and post Renaissance art.

If you are in the area, don’t forget to stop by Boshack Outback.
